Lighting as a Service

Don't buy lighting. Subscribe to light.

Wattless upgrades your buildings to smart lighting that harvests daylight and senses occupancy — dimming to let the sun in, easing off when a space empties, and returning to full the instant someone arrives. No upfront investment, one simple subscription, and rooms that stay exactly as bright as they should be.

The problem

You're paying for light the sun already delivers.

Lighting is one of the largest controllable costs in a building — yet in most schools, offices and public buildings, luminaires run at 100% from switch-on to switch-off, even at noon beside a window. Corridors, stairwells and parking decks stay fully lit for spaces that are empty most of the time.

20–40%

of building electricity

is typically consumed by lighting in commercial and public buildings.

100%

output at noon

Without control, fixtures ignore free daylight entirely — every sunny hour is wasted money.

0

comfort to sacrifice

Saving energy by making rooms dimmer is not a solution. Wattless never trades light quality for savings.

Daylight harvesting + occupancy sensing

Let the sun pay its share — and stop paying for empty rooms.

1

Sense

Wireless sensors read two things at once: the real light level on desks and floors, and whether anyone is in the space. No wiring, no server, no IT department required.

2

Balance

When a room is in use, luminaires dim exactly as much as daylight replaces them — daylight plus LED always equals your target, so 500 lux stays 500 lux. When a space empties, occupancy sensing dims or holds it low, then brings it back to full the instant someone arrives.

3

Verify

Every kilowatt-hour saved — by daylight and by occupancy — is metered and reported monthly, per room, per building, per portfolio, audit-ready.

Works with the lighting you have. Wattless is multivendor by design: it controls dimmable fixtures from any manufacturer over DALI, Zigbee, Zigbee Direct and Bluetooth. Fixtures that can't dim yet are upgraded to efficient dimmable LED — bundled into the subscription, and typically the biggest saving of all.

The model

One subscription. Everyone wins.

For your buildings

Zero capital expenditure. The subscription is priced below your verified savings, so you're cash-positive from month one. Hardware, installation, maintenance and reporting included — lamp failures are our problem, not yours.

For installers & vendors

Modern LED rarely needs replacing — which used to mean the customer relationship ended at handover. Lighting as a Service turns that dead end into recurring service revenue for local electricians and fixture partners.

For financiers

Measured, low-variance savings produce flat, forecastable cash flows — a genuinely bankable contract portfolio. Occupancy sensing adds a daylight-independent savings floor that holds through cloudy spells and dark months, while daylight yield is strongest near the equator. The model works at any latitude.

Verified results

What buildings save.

Typical lighting-electricity savings from the two mechanisms working together — daylight harvesting in occupied, daylit rooms, and occupancy sensing in spaces that sit empty most of the day. Both are needed to reach these numbers: daylight leads in classrooms and offices, while occupancy does most of the work in corridors, stairwells and parking. Verified per the IPMVP measurement protocol, with light levels never dropping below your standard.

Every saved kilowatt-hour also avoids CO₂ — the more carbon-intensive your grid, the bigger your climate impact.

Who it's for

Built for buildings that run in daylight — or sit empty on the clock.

Bright, fully lit classroom with students at desks and large windows

Schools & campuses

Occupied almost entirely in daylight hours, then empty after the bell — daylight and occupancy both pay off.

Sunlit open-plan office at full brightness with people working comfortably

Offices & public buildings

Daylight by the windows, occupancy dimming in meeting rooms and after hours — comfort-compliant light, smaller budget.

Daylight-flooded open parking deck, bright and safe

Parking structures

Mostly-empty, always-lit spaces where occupancy sensing drives the biggest percentage savings of all.

Who we are

Proven engineering. Global deployment.

Wattless builds on more than a decade of shipped, commercial lighting-control platforms — engineered for global lighting manufacturers and deployed across DALI, Zigbee, Zigbee Direct and Bluetooth ecosystems. The venture is managed by MerlAIon Advisory Pte Ltd, Singapore, combining European deep-tech engineering with on-the-ground market and government expertise across Asia-Pacific and beyond.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Will my rooms be dimmer if we save energy?

No. Sensors continuously measure the light level on the work plane and dim luminaires only as much as incoming daylight replaces them. The target illuminance — for example 500 lux at an office desk under EN 12464-1 — is maintained at all times. Occupants notice nothing except a lower bill.

Do we need to replace our luminaires?

Only if they cannot dim. Where fixtures already dim over DALI, Zigbee, Zigbee Direct or Bluetooth, we add only sensors and software. Wired-dimmable fixtures receive small wireless control modules. Legacy non-dimmable lighting is upgraded to efficient dimmable LED — bundled into the same subscription at no upfront cost, and typically the highest-saving scenario of all.

What does it cost?

Nothing upfront. Wattless is a subscription priced below your verified energy savings, so net cash flow is positive from the first month. Hardware, installation, maintenance and reporting are included.

Does daylight harvesting only work in sunny countries?

It works at any latitude — offices and schools are occupied in daytime everywhere. Savings are largest and most stable near the equator, where roughly twelve hours of daylight arrive every day of the year — which also makes the savings unusually predictable and financeable. And occupancy sensing delivers savings even where daylight can't reach: interior corridors, stairwells, parking decks and any space after hours all cut consumption whenever they sit empty.

Do the occupancy sensors track people?

No. The sensors detect only presence and motion — enough to know a space is in use — and report nothing that could identify a person. There are no cameras and no personal data. They simply let empty spaces run dark and bring light back to full the instant someone arrives.

Who owns and maintains the hardware?

Wattless does, for the duration of the contract. Sensor replacements, lamp failures and software updates are our responsibility, not yours. At the end of the term you can renew at a reduced service rate or take ownership of the system.
